STHLM DIGITAL DESIGN FESTIVAL

/fictionary design brief

Problem

Lack of a centralized platform for accessing information poses a challenge for guests at the Digital Design Festival in Stockholm — hindering their ability to fully engage with activities, workshops, and networking opportunities available throughout the festival.

Goal

The goal is to offer intuitive navigation, event information and an up-to-date design. This approach aims to evoke the feeling of attending an actual design festival, ensuring that attendees feel or wants to feel fully engaged.

Design Process

I initiated a "small-scale research" phase, focusing on identifying comparable applications and websites that I frequently use or find to have a good UX/UI. I looked for inspiration at websites/applications with a simple and minimalistic foundation. The reason behind finding inspiration of minimalistic designs came from the point of view where I knew I wanted to use relatively bold colors in the final design. Therefore, it felt important to maintain a balance between simplicity and high contrast to be able to make the application appealing to all types of people and ages.

After gathering inspiration, I proceeded to create several wireframes to assess the feasibility of my ideas. I put together six frames with a lay-out that I thought was essential for capturing the feeling of attending a digital design festival while showcasing its most vital features. It was equally important for me that the application was easy to use and to make the entire experience easier for the participants.

Functionality
The following functionalities have been incorporated into the final design:
Home screen featuring easily accessible information
Eye-catching images
Schedule
Details about the speakers
Information regarding available food options
Easy access to ticket

Take Aways

Since this brief needed to be completed relatively quickly, I felt like there was no time to actually do any major research or working to much with mapping out different things regarding the UX/UI. I made decisions based on my own expectations of attending this kind of festival. However, it would have been great to be able to do some more in-depth work since it was a very fun brief. With that said, I am satisfied with the end result considering the limitations.
